DIY Winter Blanket Coat + V8930 Review

Hi All,

How is your week going so far? It’s been quite a very busy week for me at work and finally closing the payroll and accounts is a huge relief. Winter is so knocking at the door and my yard is full of leaves. Phew, I definitely know what I will be doing this weekend. 🙁  ( leafs raking with the kids) not too fun for me.

I’m wearing the jacket I blogged about Here last week that I was working on. I used Vogue8930 which I reviewed below.  I actually thought it was going to be a bit difficult but amazingly it wasn’t.

It’s my first time working with fleece not my favorite at all. It got caught in my serger  2 or 3 times. But anyways it was fun using it.

 Pattern Review:

Pattern Description:   Vogue 8930 View C

Fabric Used:  I used Plaid/tartan Fleece

Pattern Size:  Size 14,  which is 2 sizes bigger

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?  I think so

Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions were very easy to follow. But I used MimiG’s video tutorial

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?  The pattern is simple but I will be adding more length the next time I decide to sew another. I love that it has pockets at the sides too.

Pattern alterations or any design you made?  I didn’t make any adjustment at all, but I used a knit for the back lining.

Would you sew it again? Yes, I will sew it again but will be adding more length and also may be using a wool felt fabric.

Would you recommend it to others?  Yes, it’s worth trying for the changing weather.
