DIY Jumpsuit – African Print Ankara Fabric + Review S1355

Yea, it’s another week another month, thanking God for the new month. Oh, did you watch the Super Bowl XLIX last weekend? It was one of my best. Well since my favorite team (Vikings) didn’t make it to the playoff not to talk of the super bowl I decided to just sit down and watch it anyways. LOL I would have been on my feet watching if my team made it. 🙂

So, along the game after the halftime show by Katy Perry which was just okay compared to Bruno Mar’s awesome last year performance. I think Missy Elliot stole the show from Katy last weekend with her featured performance, loved it.

Back to my story, I decided to do a wager with some friends after the halftime vouching for the Seattle – Seahawks. With 2 min to the end of the game and the Seahawks in the lead, I was all cocky already going around collecting my bills and then < **boom** > game change with a turnover throw at 1.47 min to go. What in the world. With 2 facepalms I just walked right out of the room. It was too embarrassing. 🙁 So the New England – Patriots won 28-24. What a game. 🙂

Below I’m wearing a jumpsuit I made using an African Print fabric I got from EleganzaFashion located in Maryland. I like jumpsuits a lot and will be making more. Here is another one I made.

I used S1355  as a guide for the jumpsuit below and also reviewed it. I wish I bought more of the print.

How was your weekend ??

Pattern Review:

Pattern Description: Simplicity 1355  Misses’ Maxi Dress & Long or Short Jumpsuit View A&C

Fabric Used: African Print Cotton/Wax Blend (Ankara)

Pattern Size: Size 10

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it ?  I think so.

Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions were easy to follow.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? The pattern is very simple with no difficulty at all.

Pattern alterations or any design you made? I used the bodice of the dress in view C and the pants in View A. I added up to 5″ to the pant and also I widen the pant from the knee to the hem by adding 1.5″ to each side of the pant on both front and back pattern.

Would you sew it again ? Yes, I will sew it again in a different length. Maybe the view D and B

Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I recommend it. Very good for beginners.
